  Front-End Features
  1. Home page
    • Usually includes a random selection of featured products (from a group selected by the site administrator) with a thumbnail photo, product title, brief product description, price (in one or two currencies, according to the administrator's preferences), and a "buy" button to add the product to the shopping cart. May also include (again according to administrator's preferences) a list of the most recent additions to the product catalog, list of recently viewed products, a site search form, navigation bar, a weekly poll, scrolling news, etc.
  2. Site Navigation
    • Products may be grouped in sections (tabs), section directories and sub-directories (no limit on number of sub-directory levels).
    • Each section may include a random selection of featured products (as chosen by the site's administrator), a list of directories and their sub-directories.
    • A visitor may find a product by selecting a section then navigating down the directory tree of his or her choice.
    • Alternatively, one can find a product by using the search form, either simple or advanced.
  3. Individual Product Page
    • Includes a gallery of product images (no limit on number of photos); product name and serial number (SKU); full product description; product measurements and weight (when applicable); product price; product options (see below); "buy" button; "add to wish list" button (see below); product reviews and ranking as contributed by other visitors; list of related products (as set by the store owner); list of products bought together with this product by other buyers in the past (see below).
    • Please note that certain features in the above list may be disabled by the site's administrator.
  4. Product Options
    • A product may have a number of added options, each associated with an extra cost over the standard product price. For example a lamp may have a white shade as standard, with red, yellow and black shades as options, each option costing an extra $5.00.
    • A visitor may choose to buy a product with one of the options by clicking a checkbox near that option, then clicking the button "buy."
  5. Shopping Cart
    • Shopping cart content is viewable on each of the site pages
    • Modifying shopping cart content is possible from each of the site pages
    • Check-out is possible from every page
  6. Product Search
    • Finding a product by either navigating down directories and sub-directories or searching, using a simple or advanced search
    • Advanced search includes a full-text query and price range (between chosen minimum and maximum)
  7. Currencies
    • Prices may be shown in one or two currencies (according to administrator's preferences)
  8. Measurements
    • Product measurements and weight may be shown in inches or centimeters, pounds or kilograms, according to administrator's preferences.
  9. Wish List
    • Visitors may add products to their personal wish list, then use the services of the application to notify friends and relatives about their wish list.
    • Friends and relatives may view that wish list and buy products for the list owner. The purchased product(s) will be shipped to the wish list owner's shipping address.
    • This feature may be activated or deactivated by the administrator.
  10. Product Reviews and Ranking
    • Any visitor may rank (one to five stars) or review any product.
    • Reviews and ranking appear below the description of each individual product.
    • Administrator may edit or delete submitted reviews.
    • This feature may be activated or deactivated by the administrator.
  11. Related Products
    • Each product may be associated with other products in the company catalog. Such related products are listed below the description of each individual product.
    • This feature may be activated or deactivated by the administrator.
  12. Also Bought
    • If the viewed product has been purchased in the past together with other products in a single order, the list of these proudct appears below the description of the individual product. This feature is based on a query of the store's order history.
    • This feature may be activated or deactivated by the administrator.
  13. Discounts and Coupons
    • Certain proudcts may be offered at a special discount price to all visitors. These discounts apply to individual products as selected by the store owner.
    • Certain logged-in visitors may be offered special discounts (measured as percent of the normal price or as an amount off the total order). Such visitors usually belong the user groups defined by the store owner.
    • Certain logged-in visitors may enjoy an additional discount offered on special occasions, such as Christmas, in the form of coupons. The coupons' claim code would have been sent to such visitors in advance, so that they can enter it in order to claim the discount when ordering. Coupon discount may be calculated as percent of total order or an amount deducted from total order.
  14. User Registration and Profile
    • Every visitor may register and be recognized by the application on future visits. Registration is not required for catalog browsing and for adding products to a shopping cart. Registration and logging-in are required to complete an order.
    • When logging-in, the visitor may choose to be remembered by the application in future visits (saving data in a browser "cookie").
    • An authenticated visitor may edit his or her personal data (name, addresses, password, subscription to a periodic company newsletter, etc.) by clicking on the "Profile" button, which appears on each of the site pages.
  15. Checking Out
    • After adding products to his/her shopping cart, a visitor will (hopefully) complete the ordering process by checking out.
    • Checking-out is a 2-step procedure.
    • In the first step, buyer is required to enter his/her address, and may choose to save this address on the server for future shopping.
    • In the second step, buyer can choose a shipping method (by default 3, but site owner may opt to show less), and payment method (by default 4 - credit card, wire transfer, via fax and check - but site owner may opt to offer only part of these). Buyer may also enter a coupon code (if such was sent to him/her by the site owner) to obtain a discount on the order amoung.
    • Upon completion, the buyer and merchant will receive an automatic email notification.
  16. Order History
    • Each logged-in visitor may view his or her orders by clicking the "Account" button which appears on each of the site pages.
    • The visitor may view each complete order, order's current status, order's shipment tracking number (where applicable) and estimated date of delivery.
  17. Help Desk
    • A logged-in visitor may report problems regarding his or her order by using the Help Desk, following a link from each individual order in the Order History.
    • The Help Desk assembles all correspondence between the company and the buyer per order.
  18. Security
    • All sensitive data exchanges are encrypted by default (please note that this feature requires the installation of a secure server certificate on the company's server).
    • Sensitive steps that are encrypted by default include: editing of personal profile, checking-out, and viewing order history.
    • You may easily configure other steps (or the whole site) to be always encrypted.
    • Certain user data and order data are stored in the database in an encrypted form.
